⚠️🌡️ Over 200 million more elderly people worldwide are expected to face dangerous #heat exposure by 2050, compared to now. The research results, published in Nature Communications by an international team of scientists, coordinated by CMCC and Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, provide in-depth information and a data visualization dashboard on demographic trends and risks associated with rising temperatures in several countries worldwide. The IPCC Focal Point for Italy invites expressions of interest from national experts to participate in the meeting. ⏰ Nominations submitted by the Focal point for Italy must be received by Friday 31 May 2024 to be submitted to the IPCC by Friday, 7 June 2024. 👉 🌐 A webinar for experts in Italy to explain the scoping process and present the details of the call will take place on May 17, 2024, 14:30 – 15:30 CET. 📣 A new study sheds light on the shortcomings of models in accurately simulating the heat conduction through the sea ice system during the winter months. Diagnosing these shortcomings using novel observations improves our understanding of the sea ice system and will enable better parameterization for climate models. The new paper was published in the scientific journal Geophysical Research Letters. Lead author and CMCC researcher, Lorenzo Zampieri, worked with a team of international researchers by combining models and winter observations of Arctic sea ice from the Multidisciplinary Drifting Observatory for the Study of the Arctic Climate (#MOSAiC).
