Speaker
Carolina Gallo, CMCC – IAFES Division, lead of AVENGERS project’s WP6.
Sander Houweling, Vrije Universiteit (The Netherlands), is a professor in ‘Atmosphere, Greenhouse gases, and Climate’ at the Department of Earth Sciences.
Marko Scholze, Lund University (Sweden), is a senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science and the AVENGERS project coordinator.

Abstract
Inverse modelling is a methodical approach for better quantifying the variables governing a physical system, using observations of that system, and therefore optimising the estimates of the variables. With the objective of reducing uncertainties of national greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventories, inverse models are used to reconcile reported emissions with independent information from atmospheric observations. In this session, atmospheric transport inverse modelling will be brought closer to the general audience. This webinar is organised as part of the Horizon Europe funded project “Attributing and Verifying European and National Greenhouse Gas and Aerosol Emissions and Reconciliation with Statistical Bottom-up Estimates” (AVENGERS).
